OWN Summer Camp: Leadership & Languages

Rosa E. Mitsumasu Scotti ~ Monday, August 11th, 2014

It’s summertime! Which means that youth throughout the nation are attending summer camps to sharpen their skills, socialize with new peers, and enjoy the beautiful season.

At 220 & Change we’re hosting OneWorld Now! (OWN) Summer Camp – where students learn leadership skills and choose between Arabic and Chinese for a language and culture immersion program.  Students practice their language of choice, learn about current affairs, go on field trips, and engage in fun activities like Tai-Chi, Henna tattos and Belly Dancing.  The three-week program culminates in a Final Showcase at the end of camp.

Check out the photos of the program and keep an eye out for the 2014-15 OWN Global Leadership Program, applications will be available soon!

OneWorld Now! is one of the only organizations in the entire Pacific Northwest to offer free critical-language classes to high school students. In these intensive, language-immersion environments, students pledge to speak only in the target language with their instructors and peers.
